Climate - The Côte d'Azur has a Mediterranean climate, with sunny, hot, dry summers and mild winters. Temperatures are moderated by the Mediterranean and in summer the maximum rarely exceeds 30°C. Strong winds such as the Mistral, a cold dry wind from the northwest or from the east, are another characteristic, particularly in the winter. Operators have varying charges throughout the year with pricing peaking for 2/3 weeks in August. July and August are the hottest months, tend to have lighter winds and many places are very crowded with holiday makers. April - June and September-October have a lot of plus points, the temperatures are more comfortable, those sailing are likely to getter better winds, it is not as expensive and while ashore you will avoid crowds of August. You will be asked whether you require this service at time of booking Provisioning - Most operators offer this service. You can pre-order with us and your shopping with then be delivered to the boat prior to embarkation Experience & Qualifications - Skippers of bareboats are not required to hold a sailing license under French law. Most operators like the skipper of the charter boat to have some expeience. You may be asked for a resume of your sailing history prior to booking. The great majority of the wines produced in Provence are rosés. The most characteristic grape is mourvèdre, used most famously in the red wines of Bandol.
