Puerto de Arenys de Mar, Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain

General - Puerto de Arenys de Mar is a large fishing and yachting harbour lying on the Costa Dorada on the E coast of Spain. It is east to approach and enter and offers good protection although winds fro the SW send in some swell.

Position - 41º 34' N 2º 33' E

Charts - British Admiralty 1704 French 4827, 7298 Spanish 873, 489, 4911

Approach & Entrance;
From the south - The coast is low and sandy. El Manou, the harbour at Mataro and a tower just inland from Caldetas will be recognised. The cliffs either side of the town of Arenys de Mar and its blocks of flats will be seen from afar. The harbour wall show on closer approach.
From the north - After Rio Tordera the sandy coast is backed by a range of hills, several small towns will be seen. A ruined breakwater at Malgrat and the two towers at Calella can be identified. The cliffs either side of the town of Arenys de Mar and its blocks of flats will be seen and in the closer approach the harbour breakwaters will show.
To enter - Approach the head of the outer breakwater on a N course and round it at 50m

Berths - Stern to the pontoons with a mooring buoy at the bow as directed by the marina officials.

Local Area - Beaches with coarse sand n either side of the harbour. Swimming pool at the Club Nautico de Arenys de Mar. The Torre del Encantate is of interest.
