General - Port Balis lies on the Costa Dorada on the E coast of Spain. The marina is easy and shelter is good except in SW gales when some swell enters the harbour.

Approach & Entrance;
From the south - NE of Barcelona the coast is flat and sandy. The mouth of the Rio Besos can be identified by the gas and power stations that stand on either side of its entrance. The marinas of El Masnou and Premia de Mar should be readily identifiable. The mouth of the Rio Argentona can be recognised as can town and harbour of Mataro. The harbour walls of Port Balis will be recognised in the closer approach.
From the north - Blanes and the Rio Tordera can be recognised. The coast from here is low, flat and sandy. Puerto de Arenys de Mar can be identified. The harbour walls of Port Balis will be recognised in the closer approach.
To enter - Approach the head of the outer breakwater on a N course and round it at 25m.

Berths - Secure to the fuel berth and ask.

Local Area - Fine sandy beaches on either side of the harbour. Swimming pool at the Club Nautico El Balis. The nearby town of Caldetas has a 13th century church and hot springs. The local area has remains from both Roman and Moorish times.
