General -Puerto de Empuriabrava lies on the Costa Brava on the NE coast of Spain. It sits one land reclaimed from the sea amidst large apartment blocks. The approach is easy but strong winds from NE - SE can make the entrance dangerous.

Position - 42º 14' N 3º 08' E

Charts - British Admiralty 1705 French 7008, 7505 Spanish 876, 493, 4932

Approach & Entrance;
From the south - Cross the sandy shored Golfo de Roses. The high lighthouse like building and the apartment blocks around Puerto de Empuriabrava will be seen from afar
From the north - Round Punta de la Creu with its off lying island standing 0.5 mile off. Round Punta de la Bateria onto a W course which will lead to the high lighthouse like building and the apartment blocks around Puerto de Empuriabrava. Santa Margarita, 1.5 miles to the NE also has a lot of high rise buildings and it is easy to mix the two.
To enter - Approach and enter on a NW course between the two outer breakwaters. The follow an "S" shaped course with a turn to starboard first. Corners are blind due to the height of the piers. Proceed slowly and do not cut corners. The waiting dock is to starboard at the completion of the "S".

Berths - Secure to the waiting dock and await allocation of a berth.

Shopping - Many shops and a supermarket to the SW of close to Puerto de Empuriabrava.

Eating Out - There is a restaurant at the Club Nautico Empuriabrava

Local Area - Sandy beaches run for miles on either side of the harbour entrance. Visit the Greco-Roman remains at Empuries 7 miles away. Castello de Empuries and Sant Peres Pescador are also worth a look.
