Puerto de l'Estartit, Girona, Catalunya, Spain

General - Puerto de l'Estartit is a fishing and yachting harbour lying on the Costa Brava on the NE coast of Spain. There is limited room for visiting yachts.

Position - 42º 03' N 3º 12' E

Charts - British Admiralty 1704, 1705 French 7008, 7505, 7298 Spanish 876, 493

Approach & Entrance;
From the south - Cabo Begur with its signal station, Cabo Negre with a large hotel, The Islas Medes close to Puerto de l'Estartit are all easily recognised.
From the north - Punta Trenca Bracos with its conspicuous tower can be identified. Islas Medes can be seen easily as can the tall white and orange banded radio tower just to the N of Puerto de l'Estartit
To enter - The approach and entry are prone to silting and careful sounding is needed. Round the outer breakwater leaving it to starboard. Leave the head of a second breakwater to port and then leave the head of the pier to starboard.

Berths - Secure near the fuel berth and ask for a berth.

Eating Out - There is a restaurant at the Club Nautico Estartit

Local Area - Excellent sandy beach to the SW of the harbour. Good view from the Castillo de Santa Catalina. A 13th century castle and 14th century church at Torroella de Montgri, 2 miles away, can be visited
