General -Puerto de Cullera lies 1 mile up the River Jucar on the E coast of Spain. The approach is easy but the entrance to the river should not be attempted with winds between NE - SE. Good shelter once inside. Position - 39º 09' N 0º 14' W Charts - British Admiralty 1701 Spanish 834., French 4719 Approach & Entrance - From the S the coast is flat and low backed by a mountain range that recedes into the distance as you travel N. The isolated feature of Sierra de Cullera appears as an island at a distance. Closer in the town of Cullera will be seen at the foot of the this hill. From the N having passed the harbour wall of Valencia the coast is low and flat. The isolated feature of Sierra de Cullera appears as an island at a distance. After rounding Cabo Cullera stay on a S course but be sure to avoid Escollo del Moro, a group of rocks, marked by a beacon, to the NNE of the river entrance. The mouth of the river has two rocky training walls and an isolated factory chimney should be approached on a bearing of 280º Berths - Alongside the quay on the starboard hand with the bow upriver just short of the lower road bridge or if the berths are all taken go outside a suitable vessel. Shopping - A number of shops close to Puerto de Cullera and many more in the town which has a large market. Eating Out - Several restaurants, cafes and bars in the close to Puerto de Cullera and many more in the town Local Area - The old town of Cullera is attractive. Visit the Ermita de la Virgin del Castillo and the remains of an old castle on the nearby hill. Good beaches on either side of the River Jucar but they get very crowded in the summer months.
