General - Stromness Marina is set at the head of the main harbour which is the principal ferry port connecting the Orkney Islands to mainland Scotland. Position - 58º 57.9' N 3º 17.7' W Charts, Pilots & Cruising Guides - See the following link for UK Charts Approach & Entrance - Stromness Marina can be approached from the W through Hoy Mouth or from the SE through Hoy Sound. Make for a waypoint, position 58º 57.07' N 3º 17' W. Then steer 317ºT to the harbour mouth where the channel is then marked by port and starboard hand bouys. Once through them head for Stromness Marina which is just to the north of the RoRo ferry terminal. Diesel & Petrol - On the jetty between the north and south piers. Security - Internet - Other Facilities & Services - Boatbuilders carrying out some repairs. Chandlers Shopping - All provisions can be obtained with shops and supermarkets close to Stromness Marina Eating Out - There are a couple of good eateries within a short walk from Stromness Marina. Local Area - World Heritage Sites at Skara Brae, a 5,000 year old Neolithic village, and Maes Howe, a Neolithic chambered tomb.
