Tuesday the 6th April
Allegresse leaves from the Ocean Village Marina, Gibraltar to rendezvous with Pure Spirit in the bay of Gibraltar, who has been berthed in the Club Nautico in La Linea
Fresh westerlies give us good progress throughout the day. By late afternoon we are sailing in a F7 for the best part of an hour until in a matter of a couple of minutes it disappears completely leaving us to motor and anchor off the beach at Fuengirola
Photo is Pure Spirit leaving Fuengirola after a night anchored off the beach

Wednesday 7th April
More westerly wind and we reach the harbour of Caleta de Velez in the late afternoon. Its a mix of fishing boats and a marina for pleasure craft that looks pretty full. Having being completely ignored on VHF CH9, 10(well thats what it said in my pilotage book) and 16 Pure Spirit goes alongside the fishing quay with Allegresse rafted outside
I walk to the office and am told that one boat can stay on the quay but the other must move inside the marina. However on returning to the boats I find a fisherman who is unaware of this policy and he's getting very exited, lots of arm waving and shouting because we're in his berth
Both boats end up in the marina and the following day we wander have a look around the town. OK but it did not inspire me to get the camera out of the bag and the picture is of the harbour with the town Caleta de Velez behind

Friday 9th April
Another good day with the wind from the W and we head for the large harbour at Motril with a view to anchoring overnight
The picture is of Punta de la Concepcion between Caleta de Velez and Motril and by now the sea is giving us an quite an exiting ride. Once again it strengthens throughout the day and passing between the breakwaters as we enter the harbour was something of a relief.

A call from Nigel on the radio to tell me we are abandoning plan A, that is to anchor, as he in the process of tieing up on a hammerhead pontoon at the Real Club Nautico. Even more relief.
Pure Spirit and Allegresse alongside a hammerhead at the Real Club Nautico de Motril. 42 Euros each for the night and we only used the one berth!!!

Sunday 11th April
Well if you've read up to this point you'll have gathered how this sailing thing works. We drift along in the morning at a very comfortable 4 knots, Taking in the sun and telling ourselves that we are "living the dream"
By mid afternoon the wind has increased close to gale force and we're fighting with boat, sails, wind and sea. Almerimar Marina comes once again with a good deal of relief
The photo shows Pure Spirit in Almerimar Marina
