Digital photos are also very welcome. General - Chichester Harbour is located on the south coast, off the Solent. It is the largest leisure harbour on the south coast. Chichester Harbour Conservancy off permanent moorings and some visitors berths. Extra facilities are provided by the marinas and sailing clubs based in the harbour. Open - All year round. Hours - Harbour Office is open weekdays 0830 - 1700, Saturdays 0900 - 1300 (1/4 - 30/9). The Harbour Patrol are available everyday (1/4 - 30/9) between 0830 - 1700, (longer hours on summer weekends). Arrival out of hours - Pick up a visitors mooring and make contact with the Harbour Master the following day. Formalities - All vessels must pay harbour dues on a daily, weekly or annual basis. These can be paid at the Harbour Office, to the Harbour Patrol or at most Sailing Clubs. Depths - Chichester Bar is normally dredged to about 1.5m below Chart Datum. However, through gradual accretion and after severe gales the bottom can vary markedly. It is prudent to assume a depth of 0.8, below Chart Datum, giving a depth of 1.4m at MLWS.. Protection/Shelter - OK Approach and Entrance - The harbour can be entered at all states of the tide. Berths & Moorings - The Conservancy have about 600 swinging moorings for hire. A number of visitors swinging moorings and pontoon berths are available at Itchenor and Emsworth.. Water - On the public jetties at Itchenor and Emsworth. Electric - On the hard at Itchenor. Fuel - From selected marinas. Weather forecast - see www.conservancy.co.uk and www.chimet.co.uk. Butane/Camping Gaz//Propane - Not known. Ice - Not known. Eating Out - There are various restaurants, cafes and pubs in the harbour side villages and in some marinas. Transport - Bikes - Hire available from Chichester Local Bus Service - Intercity Bus Service - From Chichester and Havant bus stations. Taxis - Car Rental - From Chichester and Havant. Train Service - From Chichester, Emsworth and Havant. Water Taxi - From Itchenor and Emsworth (seasonal). Ferry Service - Airport(s) - Southampton and Gatwick Local Area - Sporting & Recreational Facilities - Sightseeing - Chichester Harbour is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a popular place for walkers, bird watchers and artists. Nearby is Fishbourne Roman Palace, the walled city of Chichester and the South Downs with Goodwood race course. Museums and Cultural Attractions - Emsworth Maritime Museum, Chichester Museum, Havant Museum Conservation Projects - The harbour and surrounding land are a protected landscape. The Conservancy works to enhance and protect the area's natural beauty while helping visitors to learn about and value this special place.
