Lake Superior is the largest of the five Great Lakes of North America. It is bounded to the north by the Canadian province of Ontario and the US state of Minnesota, and to the south by the US states of Wisconsin and Michigan. Customs - It is a legal requirement that all persons seeking entry into Canada report to Canada Customs. This includes all foreign visitors and returning Canadian residents. Upon arrival, call 1 888 CANPASS (1 888 226 7277). To aviod delays, have your vessel documentation, and passenger information, including full name, birthday and address ready. Failure to report in could result in a fine. Boating Safety - Michigan conservation officers and Michigan county sheriffs encourage all persons operating boats in Michigan to enroll in a boating safety course. The following rules apply to boaters: (1) A person who is 12 but less than 14 may operate a personal watercraft if he or she obtained a boating safety certificate before January 1, 1999. (2) Persons born after December 31, 1978 shall not operate a personal watercraft unless they obtain a boating safety certificate. (3)The operators of a personal watercraft must carry their boating safety certificate and display it upon the demand of a peace officer. All Ontario boaters are now required to have the Pleasure Craft Operator Card in order to operate a powered watercraft. There are no age exemptions, this law applies to all boaters.
