Plus summer programs in boat building, model making, piloting and navigation and safety. Duxbury was founded in 1628 as an outpost to Plymouth. It was a shipbuilding centre until the mid-19th century when the increasing size of ships became too large for the shallow bay. There are many historic, restored houses from Pilgrim and shipbuilding eras.
