General - Port Jefferson Moorings lie on Eastern Long Island's North Shore in the southern half of Port Jefferson Harbor. Port Jefferson was once the biggest shipbuilding town on Long Island, the Port Jefferson Historical society has created three walking tours of the harbour area, some of the stops were originally homes of ship builders and captains.
