Digital photos are also very welcome. General - Sodus Bay Yacht Club is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario in upstate New York. Sodus Bay Yacht Club is a private club with reciprocal rights to many other Yacht Clubs around Lake Ontario; and as a member of the Yacht Clubs of America, reciprocal rights with clubs around the country (and beyond). Open - The club is formally open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, which in the context of the local climate, is the peak sailing season when most waterfront facilities are in operation. The sailing season, including club racing activities with limited bar and restaurant services, extend beyond the peak season through spring and fall, so that the club is active from May through October. The club is closed from November thru April. Hours - Can change from year to year, and are different during different parts of the season. See our website for details. Arrival out of hours - The club has guest dockage (marked with yellow paint) for reciprocal club visitors on the front wall and at the ends of both our east and west floating docks. Entrance - Great Sodus Bay Entrance is a freighter-suitable channel with two large well marked and lighted piers, with an old-fashioned lighthouse that can actually be seen from up to about eight miles (conditions permitting). Slips - yes. Fuel Dock - No, but fuel is available from nearby marinas. Protection/Shelter - The club is well protected, though strong winds from the southeast will bring waves of up to 1' into the harbor. Boats should be carefully and well tied at all times. Approach and Entrance - From the open bay, through our mooring area, to the club. Our anchorage is well marked with coast-guard placed anchorage markers (yellow cans), and well marked on marine charts. Slips & Moorings - Three long docking areas are reserved for reciprocal guests, and accommodations are made during heavy traffic times. Reservations are preferred. Maximum length - About 50'. Larger vessels can moor off. Water - Yes. Electric - Yes. Fuel - No, but available from nearby marinas. Weather forecast - Not known. Security - No (small village in , rural area).
