Approach and Entrance - From the Pacific Ocean head for the Rogue River. Boaters approaching from the sea must deal with the Rogue River bar, depths are often less than the 8' projected depth. Call for local knowledge. Port of Gold Beach is on the south side of the river after crossing the bar. Two stone jetties shelter the entrance, but breakers are often present at their outer ends.
