Approach and Entrance - A yacht must enter the river Ems by using Riffgat coming from the north. The water is here around 5 to 6 m.Coming from the west yacht can use the Westerems entrance.

After entering the river Ems you first pass the Island Borkum east from you. The next harbour on the right is Eemshaven (Netherland) - only a industral harbour. They don´t want to have yachts there and there are no facilities for yachts.
The next harbour on the right is Delfzijl. Then a yacht reach the first German harbour on the left, Emden. After passing Emden the next harbour is on the right, Ditzum. A very little German harbour with a tide of around 3m. No lock. Following the river up the next harbour is Leer on the left.
To reach Marina Leer a yacht must leave the river Ems and enter the very small river Leda.
